Editor's cornerI am currently attending BPE 2009 in London. BPE is one of the leading biopartnering events and attracts in excess of 1000 delegates each year. The event is primarily designed for delegates to participate in one-to-one meetings and present to potential partners/investors by means of 15-minute pitches. The event is complemented by a number of leadership discussion panels - this year the focus was on partnering trends in the current economic climate from the perspective of bigpharma, biotech and the investor community. BPE is the sister event to BPN which runs in Vancouver in January 2010 - well worth a visit. There are many more partnering events this fall and Currentpartnering will be present at them all - the following are our suggested must attend events: BIO-Europe 2009, EuroPLX41, and TA Partnerships, as well as the 2010 events that are now registering delegates: Biobusiness 2010, Biopartnering North America, Drug Delivery Partnerships, BioSquare, BioAsia - watch out for our logo and brochures! September saw a big uplift in partnering activity, with nearly 200 deals announced according to our Scorecard - the highest since January. The reflects not only increased activity normally associated with the post-vacation period, but also the probable beginnings of a new momentum in dealmaking as people put the worst of the economic crisis behind them.
